The Night of the Gun

The Night of the Gun (2008) by David Carr. Carr went from crack addict to reporter for the New York Times, and his story is pretty engaging. As a reporter, he avoided the memoir route and investigated his own life to see how much of what he remembered actually happened. It's an interesting idea, but bogs down a bit in the second half. My Horizontal Life

My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands (2005) by Chelsea Handler. The title pretty much says it all, though it doesn't alert the reader to the spirit and humor that Handler brings to the telling. It's really surprising how few actual one-night stands are described in the book, which mostly describes the events leading up to and following Handler's sexcapades. It's an entertaining read.
